Next Week ... 1 August 2011

Hi everyone - what a lovely week, no children during the day, sunshine, no children during the day, scrapping, no children during the day, shopping with no children, aaaaahhhhhhhh...... and now children are about to come home for the weekend and it's started raining!!!  There's a sign there me thinks!

Poor little Sebastian has been sick with a bronchial infection and has been back and forth to the vet and emergency vet...here he is waiting patiently, but looking rather dashing in his DGG (dog gone gorgeous) jumper!  On the mend now, but wasn't a happy chappy for most of this week.

I still haven't managed to finish all the scrapping for the new calendar, had no kids during the day, but still had lots of running around with appointments and taking Daniel between high schools, just aren't enough hours in the day! Only have three more layouts to finish and I am hoping I will get them done on Saturday during the Scrap'n'Roast.

Scrap'n'Roast is on this Saturday (30th July) from 4 until midnight.  There are 3 spots left if you would still like to come along.  Give me a buzz or email to book in.

Everyone enjoyed this weeks workshop with the quilting effect of circles into squares, nice to hear all your comments about how much you loved it - thank you! Just today I received an order which contained two 1.5" circle punches, so if you are interested in recreating the quilted effect on another layout or card, send me an email or give me a buzz and I will put the punch aside for you. They are $16 each.

Speaking of emails, just a note for you - if you want to email me you can't hit reply from the blog email, you need to email me at madebymandy@hotmail.com.  Unfortunately, blogger sends the email out each week after I have posted, but if you reply to that email it won't be directed to me, it will be lost in cyberspace forever!  Please ensure you have my email address in your address book.

Next weeks workshop is ...
Layer upon Layer   $26
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12:30-2:30pm and Thursday 9:30-11:30am

Layer upon layer - sounds like a delicious dessert filled with chocolate and cream and....I digress!  With a workshop title like that, you will be dribbling with anticipation! We are going to be using many layers of papers in different ways to complete this delectable layout. You will need 3 photos, 1 landscape @ 4x6" and 2 square @ 4x4". You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, border punches (I used 2 different ones) and foam mounting tape.  If you have a Slice or Cricut, you might like to bring them to cut out your flourishes and decorative label, I will have a template for you to trace and hand-cut or you may wish to cut it out at home.

The Teresa Collins Stampmakers that have been pre-ordered will arrive next week - yeah!  I will let those of you who ordered them know as soon as they get here so that you can start playing straight away!

The next Mini Album, "Hidden Delight", will run on the 13th August from 10am - 4pm, $30.  I am busy actually putting photos into the sample, what??? actual photos, I know, good thing you where sitting down while you read this, isn't it?!!!  Anyway, bookings are open for this fun day of album making using some adorable K&Co papers, Watercolor Bouquet.  There are only 5 spots available, so you'll have to get in quick! Unfortunately only 2 of the 3 paper pads arrived which means I can only make up 5 kits.  If you would like to do this with other papers, have a talk to me and we can work that out.
Each page of this sweet little album has 7 tags and room for  7 cropped photos or journaling spots - WOW!
You will need your basic tool kit, a scoreboard or stylus, 1” or 1½” circle punch, a decorative corner punch (you can use the same throughout or a combination of different punches, I used a combination of border & corner punches so each page was different), a border punch, liquid glue (such as Helmar Craft Glue or Scotch Quickdry Tacky Adhesive) and your inks.
We will have a shared lunch, so bring along a plate of something savoury to share and I will provide morning/afternoon tea treats and drinks for the day.
PLACES LIMITED
BOOKINGS ARE ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

Just to whet your scrapping appetite, some of the upcoming workshops include - Bunting & Rosettes, Embossed Backgrounds, Making Your Own Glitter Flourishes, Flower Making All Day Workshop and some Paper Piecing.  Keep your eyes peeled for the new newlsetter next week filled to the brim with scrummy scrapping workshops.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 25 July 2011

Well, school holidays are nearly over!!!  It's been a cold and indoorsy holiday break in which I have not got much scrapping done, grrrr.... too busy referring the arguments and constant fighting!  We had brief visit to Melrose, Flinders Ranges were it was even colder than Adelaide - thank goodness for campfires (and toasted marshmallows!!)  Here's a few of the snaps I took over the weekend...
Abandoned Shepherd's Hut, still used by bushwalkers on the Bartagunya property.
Stopped track-side to put out fire from other 4wd'ers we had just passed!
Only a little bit of mud on the tyres!!!
Through the creeks - had to wash all the mud of the tyres and the car!
Roaring fire in Gavin's latest creation - nice!

This Saturday, 23rd July, there is a Christmas in July Scrap'n'Roast if you are interested.  $16, 4pm - midnight.  Dig out your Christmas hat and have a fun evening of scrapping!  Email or ring to book now.

Next week's workshop is ...
Quilter's Dream   $19
Monday 7-9pm, Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

Have you ever stared at a quilt, lost in the optical illusions of patterns?  Even if you’ve never quilted before you will be able to do this simple “cathedral window” effect.  You will need 2/3 landscape photos @ 4x6”.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, a title (I cut mine from cardstock using my cricut), approximately 35 brads or small buttons or bling bits - for the “quilt”, paper piercer and any other embellishments you might like to add (I used a boarding pass, which is not in these photos!!!).

Saturday 30th July is Scrap'n'Roast night with only a couple of spots left.  $16, 4pm - midnight.  Email or ring to book in.
New stock just arrived -
  • Range of Glitzin' Glamour - 14 glitzin' colours!
  • New decorative corner punches from Martha Stewart - these will be handy for the next mini album workshop in the new calendar, shhhhh!
  • Three new paper racks which means 30 new papers!!
  • Top up of Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
I have started an account with another wholesaler/manufacturer who makes the X-Press tape we all love so much, as Print Blocks no longer sells it.  Coincidentally, they are also the Australian wholesaler for Copic Markers - yeah! Have to save up to buy the initial stand and markers (72 colours), then I will have them in stock for all of you who have been asking.  I have also put my name down to do the Copic Marker course in Melbourne so I can be recognized as an authorized dealer.  All exciting!
Looking forward to seeing you all back at classes next week!  Remember the extra scrap'n'roast this weekend if you can't wait until next week, would love to see you there.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)
