Next week ... 29th April 2013

Morning everyone :-)

Greetings from Normanville! A lovely sunny morning, seabreeze gently blowing, the sound of waves crashing from over the sand dunes ... Lovely way to spend the last weekend of the school holidays!

What a beautiful ANZAC dawn service at Henley beach yesterday morning. A bigger crowd again this year, which is lovely and the rain stayed away so we didn't get our music or instruments wet! Being a street away from the beach, it is very eerie when the mc is talking about the first landing at Gallipoli and in the background the only sound you hear are the waves are crashing - very haunting. Lest We Forget.

Next weeks workshop is ... Kit-tastic! $25
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9:30-11:30am
We are going to be using 6 papers from the cute Nook & Pantry range by Basic Grey. Also included are a packet of gorgeous stitched brads, ribbon, epoxy words ... Lots of layers, distressing, inking ... plus we will be cutting numerous diecut doilies from the papers to add some real flair and loads of fun! There a part pic below so you can see the some of the papers (sorry, I'm on my phone and can't seem to put the photos where I would like!) You will need one 4x6" landscape photo, inks, edge distressing tool, background stamps and your basic tool kit.

Well my bacon, egg and mushrooms are ready :-)
Have a great weekend!
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 22 April 2013

Good morning all :-)

Hope you are enjoying this lovely weather!  Also the school holidays :-)

I have been busy as always!  Finally finished editing the wedding photos, phew... Just in time as the lovely bride and groom have returned from their honeymoon.

Little Shop of Horrors is drawing to a close, it has been a fun musical to be involved with, lovely people and fantastic music.  Rehearsals for Brigadoon are already underway, completely different music altogether!

Now, I am forging ahead through my next photography module and assignment.  I need to finish the course by the end of May!

Next week has no scrapping workshops on Monday or Thursday.

Art Journal Workshop is on Wednesday 24th April at 12.30-2.30pm and 7-9pm.  $10.  So far I only have bookings for the evening workshop.  I know the day changed from Friday to Wednesday, but I do need confirmation that you can still come on Wednesday if you were booked in.  Please give me a quick buzz, text or email if you would like to join in.  Here's the workshop blurb again for you, just in case you missed it ...

We will be using up a fist full of those pages you have been ripping out of your books!  You DON'T need to gesso your page for this class.

You will need -
  • 5-6 book pages
  • Bostik GluStik (blue container) I got mine from Kmart and Big W.  We are using this glue and not tripletac as the glimmermist won't work as the tripletac leaves a varnish like coating and repels the sprays.  Let me know if you have any problems getting the glue and I will grab some for you.
  • Glimmermist/Smooch Sprays - 3-4 colours
  • Paint - to stamp our saying
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper Leaves x 2
  • Stamps for the background
  • Black or brown versacolor ink cube or distress ink
  • Stazon Ink - black
  • Journaling pen - black
I shall do a quick email/blog post next week if the day workshop doesn't go ahead.  Why not bring a friend along?

Enjoy the weekend,
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ...

Happy School Holidays!!

Just a reminder that there are no Monday and Thursday workshops during these school holidays.

I am super busy with Little Shop of Horrors and rehearsals have begun for Brigadoon, which starts just after the holidays in May!  I am spending my days editing photos and doing my photography courseNo rest for the wicked!!!

The next ART JOURNAL workshop is on the 24th April @ 12.30-2.30pm and 7.00-9.00pm.  Cost is $10.  Bookings are open.
***I'm sorry I have changed the day from the usual Friday, but due to Little Shop of Horrors and school holidays, everything is all mucked up!!!  If this doesn't work for everyone, we will just have it in May instead.  So far I have had only 1 confirmation regarding the change of day.  Please let me know if you can still make the new time.  To make up for it, I will schedule two Art Journal workshops in May :-)

Next Week ... 8th April 2013

Good morning, good morning!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break, a weekend to remember :-)  My family had a lovely relaxing time at Meningie, gazing over the waters of Lake Albert.  The lake level was up this year, encouraging lots of bird life... pelicans galore!

I am in full swing with Little Shop of Horrors.  Such fun music!  As this goes for 3 weeks, opening night is tonight, this has pushed things around and out!  There is no Scrap'n'Roast this month :-( and the Art Journal workshops have to be on a Wednesday.  All will be back to normal (normal?!) soon!!

Next Week's Workshop is ...
ATTACK YOUR STASH   $10
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am
This gorgeous page is from the Bo Bunny Projects Blog.  It uses layered stamping to create the background and photo mat area - pretty cute hey?  Depending on the colours and embellishments you choose, this page could be either girlie, masculine or in-between.

You will need one landscape 4"x6" photo.
From your stash you will need -
  • Background - 1 x patterned paper or cardstock
  • Top layered background - 1 x patterned paper that is fairly light with not much pattern or you could use a light cardstock.
  • Title
  • Lace or hessian (burlap) to create part of the photo mat and embellishing
  • Embellishments - go through your stash to find things that will match your photo theme, using the picture above as a guide.  Brads, buttons, old jewellery, flowers, chipboard, pearls, etc...
  • Stamps - you can see in the picture many different stamps have been used to create the background, so look through your collection :-)
  • Inks
  • Distressing tool
  • Masking tape - we will stamp this to make our own stamped tape
  • String
  • Dymo machine and tape

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS are fast approaching! They begin on the 13th April through to the 28th April.  There won't be any scrapping classes during the holidays.

The next ART JOURNAL, $10, workshop will be on Wednesday, 24th April at 12.30-2.30pm and 7-9pm.  ***I'm sorry I have changed the day from the usual Friday, but due to Little Shop of Horrors and school holidays, everything is all mucked up!!!  If this doesn't work for everyone, we will just have it in May instead.  Please let me know.  To make up for it, I will schedule two Art Journal workshops in May :-)

Okey dokey, I think that's everything!  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.  Mine is going to be full of music with two shows of Little Shop of Horrors and the first rehearsal of Brigadoon. La, la, la!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)
