Art Journal Workshop

Hi there lovely arty crafty people :-)

Just a quick post (from my iPad) to let you know that March's Art Journal Workshop is this Friday. Afternoon workshop 12:30-2:30pm and evening workshop 7-9pm. Cost $12

You will need to have a page prepared - glued together. It will need a good coat of Gesso (primed). You will need to bring your paints, paintbrushes and tripletac. We will be learning to use texture paste - lots of fun!

Sorry this is not the best photo, taken with my iPhone in a hurry! Still have the paper towel in my journal and the words aren't on it yet!!! LOL! The fun of living life on the run!

Booking are required for this class as I need to get some printing done and make up the coloured texture paste for you.

Next Week ... 25th February 2013

Hi everyone,

Hot weather's back, not a fan of the extreme heat and humidity!  Thank goodness the scrap room is airconditioned...I can sneak out there and get cool :-)

Our last Mixed Media Canvas is on Saturday (23rd) and everyone is looking forward to putting the finishing touches on their canvases.  I have to tell you, they are looking fabulous!  

There is a Scrap'n'Roast straight tomorrow night too (23rd).  Not too late to book a spot and scrap the night away in airconditioned comfort!

Page Maps   $25

Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

I had fun with this page map, adding a few extra embellishments and a fun way to add a strip with a difference!  You will need one 4”x6” portrait photo and three 2½”x2” landscape photos.  You will also need your basic tool kit, a title (I stamped mine on one of the tags), a border punch, circle cutting system and a 1½”-2”shape punch (I used butterflies).  *I have added a bling border strip and some sewing on the layout - these elements are optional and not included in the class.  I have managed to find some more, so you will be able to buy a strip if you'd like one.

Wow, that takes to the end of February!!!  Hasn't that zoomed by quickly?  Watch out for March's newsletter near the end of next week.

Card Workshop Today ... 20th February 2013

Workshop $18 (that works out to $3 per card, cheaper than a hallmark!)

Remember to bring your basic toolkit, a hot glue gun (if you have one) and your inks.

Phew!  A bit hot and muggy today, hope you are all somewhere cool.

Happy Valentines Day for yesterday.

Everyone really enjoyed the Art Journal Workshops last Friday :-)  From the feedback I've received, it is most definitely going to be back next month, both afternoon and evening times, yay!!  I am working on the March calendar now and the Art Journal Workshop will be on the 1st March, 12-30-2.30pm and 7-9pm... jot it into your calendar.

We are about to start the second of the three workshops on our mixed media canvas.  Once again, enjoyed by all who've attended.  Can't wait to see when they are all finished!

  

Next Week's Workshop is ...

STARLIGHT, STARBRIGHT   $16

Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

 

A fantastic boy or celebration page covered in stars!!  You will need one 4”x6” portrait photo and six 4”x4” photos.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, a title (I cut mine out with my eClips machine using left over paper), paper piercer, star punches in different sizes (if you have them, or bring your charged Slice machine), journal pen (I used a white gel pen), paint brush, a border punch and any other embellishments you may wish to use (I used a die cut tag).

CARD WORKSHOP   $18 

Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Wednesday 7-9pm

This months theme is butterflies and borders!  We will be making six cards utilising the Tim Holtz negative strip die and butterfly punches.  You will need your basic tool kit, score board, inks, a border punch, hot glue gun (if you have one) and mounting foam tape or squares.  You will be choosing your papers, so everyone’s cards will look just that little bit different!  Plus, one of the cards will have a twist!!!  You’ll just have to wait and see, muhahahaha :-)

Good morning :-)

Why is it that during the holidays the time just seem to last forever but now the kids are back to school it is just flying by? 

Very exciting stuff happening ... today is the first of the monthly art journal workshops!  It's going to be fun, fun, fun!  There are still spots available in this afternoon and this evenings workshop if you'd like to come along.  Just give me a quick buzz or text to let me know.

Tomorrow the Mixed Media Canvas begins!!  Running over 3 weeks, there are only 2 spots left if you'd love to come along and create your very own masterpiece!

On Wednesday evening (13th) I am holding a Partylite Candle Party at 7pm.  You are all welcome to come along, even if it's just for a look and more than welcome to bring a friend too.

Hang Out The Washing   $22

Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

 

I saw these gorgeous paper clip embellishments in a magazine and thought...I can make those myself!  I did and now you will too J You will need one 6”x8” landscape photo and six 2⅛”x2½” landscape photos.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, a 1”-1½” shape punch that co-ordinates with your photo theme (I used a heart) and your title (I cut mine out with my eClips machine using left over paper).

There's a Card Workshop on the 20th, you'll be making 6 cards.  They co-ordinate beautifully, so you could give them as a gift set or of course, keep them for yourself.  You will be making roses, a refresher for some and a lovely new experience for others!  They are so beautiful, once you start making them you can't stop :-)  Bookings are open for both the afternoon and evening classes.

I have been having so much fun with the canvases!!  Here's what I have been working on this week...

Art Journal ...

Hello again :-)

I've had a busy weekend...and loving it!  That's because it was, mostly, very arty :-)

Here's the Art Journal page reveal for this Friday, 8th Feb at 12.30-2.30pm or 7-9pm.  There are 4 spots left for both the afternoon and evening classes, so if you've been thinking about it, don't delay and book in today!  $15 for the workshop.

Art journals are so much fun!  Each month you will get a product to play with and keep.  You can do whatever you like, photos, no photos, draw, stamp, paint, the list is endless…  All you need to get started is an old hard cover book, about 5½”x8½” give or take! If you can’t find one, I have a few spare for you.  Or else you can do as I have and buy an art journal from an art supplier - please talk to me first before you buy anything as I want you get the right type of book. Bring your paints and paint brush or three :-)  Bring along a small jar and lid about ½ cup size.  If you have a heat gun, bring that along too.  Be prepared for some messy arty fun!

 

So, here it is....

I even found some old quote books in a pile of stuff I had gone through to give away, needless to say, they'll be staying now!  You will be going through those to find a quote that you like and adding it to your journal page.

Mixed Media Canvas ...

Happy Monday morning :-)

Here is the Mixed Media Canvas we will be doing starting Saturday!!!  There are only 3 spots left - so if you've been thinking about it, don't wait too long!  

Run over 3 weeks, starting this Saturday, 9th Feb at 1.30 - 3.30pm.  If you pay for the three lessons at the first lesson, pay only $60!!

You will learn a whole heap of background techniques, painting techniques, we’ll give stamping a whole new meaning!  Included is your 6”x12” canvas, jar of tripletac, one4all black paint pen, texture kit, Sew Stamper, papers and more!  I want you to bring some paint brushes, paints - 3-4 colours, go through your old rubons - not the alphas, the other ones and bring along all those unused or half used packets!!  You’ll also need an apron, black stazon ink, a foam brush and a couple of stamps - background types like writing, texture, butterflies, flourishes...

So without further ado....here she is...so, so cute! 

(Don't you love that I was excited when I finished that I didn't even clean my desk before taking the photo!! LOL!)
