Next Week ... 16th December 2013

Good morning everyone :-)

Oh my goodness!!!!  Only 11 sleeps until Christmas and this is the last week of scrapping for the year!  This year has flown by at ultrasonic speed for me...so much to do, so little time!

Scrap'n'Pizza
Sunday 15th December 12pm-12am
As the bookings were not enough to keep the Christmas Scrap'n'Roast going, I have decided that I still wanted to spend the day scrapping :-)  So, this is the new plan...  Starting at 12 pm, bring a small plate of lunch to share, then we can start scrapping the day and night away.  When we get hungry we will order pizza's and split the cost between us.  Bring along your drink of choice and a bag of lollies or chips. Oh  and don't forget all your scrapping gear, lol!  Still time to book in if you'd like to join us.

Next Week's Workshop (and last for the year) is ...
Page Maps   $23
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

A double layout page map this month.  I’ve added a few extra elements to the map, so you can see that you don’t have to stick rigidly to the page map, but just use it as a guide.  There are lots of places on the internet that bring out free ones - I love www.pagemaps.com, if you search for page maps scrapbooking or scrapbooking sketches, you will find lots of web pages out there with heaps of page map ideas for you to begin with.
You will need 3 photos, 2 landscape @ 6x4” and 1 landscape @ 5x4”.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, a title, 2 different border punches (not deep ones), a stapler and a circle cutting system (to cut a circle about 7” in diameter).

We will be back scrapping in January, the week beginning the 6th, so keep an eye out for your email update with the new calendar.  Don't forget the Thursday workshop time change for next year to 1-3pm.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and hopes for a fabulous 2014.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 9th December 2013

Good morning :-)

My goodness, isn't December racing by at lightning speed!!!  So much to do....so little time!

I had lots of fun making my Christmas banner with you all this week, I hope you did too!  I would love to see photos of them hanging up adding to your Christmas cheer :-)

Next Week's Workshop is ...
Sweet and Simple   $19
Thursday 9.30-11.30am
This cute one page layout is simple but oh so sweet!  With nice classic lines coupled with a little whimsy, rick rack and some machine stitching, you are going to love it.
You will need 3 portrait photos @ 3x5”, you basic tool kit, inks, a title and a 1” circle punch.

Christmas Scrap'n'Roast   $30
15th December 12pm - midnight

Come along on Sunday afternoon & evening for 12 hours of scrapping fun!  Don’t forget to wear your Christmas adornments!! We will start the day with a sausage sizzle @ 12 then get our Christmas scrapping hats on :-) Bring your photos & tools then crop the night away.  Included in this fun afternoon will be a mini workshop, the kit is included!  A roast hot from the Weber & salad will be served for dinner.  Softies are in the fridge and the kettle is always handy for a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate!  There are always nibbles on the table … and yes ... you might even get some scrapping done!!!

So far bookings for the Christmas Scrap'n'Roast are not very going well and this yearly event is likely to be cancelled for the first time in 10 years :-( Such a shame that I have had to cancel previous Scrap'n'Roast's as well this year. Coupled with the cut down of workshops from 3 a week to 3 a fortnight because of dropping numbers, things are not looking so good for Made by Mandy Scrapbooking.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Last week of November & Next Week ... 2nd December 2013

Hi everyone!!

Been a bit slack updating this weekly, you know how it gets sometimes and you have sooooo much to do!  Well, it hasn't stopped yet, I am looking forward to a rest after Christmas!  I hope you are all well and not quite as busy as me :-)

This weekend (the 30th) there is supposed to be a Scrap'n'Roast.  As I have had no bookings for this evening, I have cancelled it.  The next Scrap'n'Roast will the be the Christmas Scrap'n'Roast on Sunday 15th December starting at 12pm.  Bookings are not going too well for this event either, actually I am the only one booked in, so it is in danger of also being cancelled. I know it is a Sunday, but unfortunately I have band Christmas carols and functions on all Saturday nights except the 21st and I thought that was just a little too close to Christmas.  Please, if you are thinking of coming along can you please let me know.

The December newsletter is up on the blog where you can read it online or download to your computer and print it out if you like a hard copy-

This week's workshop is ...
Attack Your Stash   $10
Thursday 9.30-11.30am

You are going to have with this one!  We will be cutting our contrast into many rectangles and using the reverse for a circle.  Then we shall tie it all together with our ribbon in a lovely luscious bow :-)
You will need your basic tool kit plus the following from your stash -
Background 1 x patterned paper or cardstock
C1 1 x double patterned paper
Photo mat 1 x cardstock
Title
Ribbon 1” wide x 24”
Brads x 8 large
Stapler OR embroidery thread & needle
Inks
Circle cutting system (just over 3”)
Journal pen

Next week's workshop is also ...
Attack Your Stash   $10
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

Last Christmas I tried to do a banner swap, which didn’t eventuate...so this year I thought we would do it as a class, that way it won’t be so daunting!!
You will need to work out your Christmas word - Merry Christmas, Ho Ho Ho, Rejoice, Xmas, Joy, etc…  This will determine how much of your stash you will need to bring along, lol!  Now you can choose traditional chrissy colours, or you can make it in any colour scheme you like :-)
You will need 4 different pattern papers or cardstock (I’m using a combination of both), you will get four to five banners from a full piece of paper/cardstock.  So if you choose ‘Merry Christmas’ you will need - 12 in total.  Confused!!  It’s okay. Each banner doesn’t need to be the same, but I am going the make the back layer of mine all the same cardstock, just for continuity.  You will also need your inks, christmas embellishments, christmas/flower punches, glitter, mounting foam, string/baker’s twine/ribbon long enough for the whole banner and most importantly, your letters for your Christmas word!

Art Journal Workshop  $19
Friday 6th December 1-3pm and 7-9pm

Dig out your glimmermists, we are going to have fun creating a wonderful background using glimmer glam as a resist :-)  Included in the workshop is a bottle of glimmer glam!  We will NOT be gessoing our page for this journal entry, we will be using the book paper as it is.  We will be using my stamp set of weed type flowers & grasses for the base. You will need to bring your art journal, glimmermists (I used 3 colours), background type stamps (I used text, music, bubblewrap), glitter, stencil (I used butterflies), texture paste, black stazon ink, small paintbrush.
Our saying for this journal page is - “Just living is not enough,” said the butterfly, “one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.” Hans Christian Andersen

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next week ... 28th October 2913

Hello, hello :-)

Well Grease has finished with the final two shows on Saturday - it's been a blast! Such great music, wonderful stage performers and a full house to play to every night, just wonderful :-)  Now to get back to the routines of 'normal' life, lol!

Next week's workshop is ...
ATTACK YOUR STASH   $10
Thursday 9:30-11:30am
You will need 4 photos for this Attack, 3 portrait @ 4”x6” and 1 landscape @ 3”x4”.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, title, sanding disk or distressing tool, journal pen and embellishments.  From your stash you will need 2 x cardstock for the background, 1 full sheet of double sided paper and another 1 full sheet of double sided paper.  We will be using both sides of the paper, so if you don’t like the reverse, pop in a couple of other papers to match the sides you like :-)

Upcoming workshops -
  • Art Journaling $10 8th Nov 12.30pm & 7pm
  • Scrap'n'Roast $20 16th Nov 4pm-midnight

I have one kit for the Mixed Media Canvas leftover from the recent workshop!  If you missed out on the workshop, here's your chance :-)  Comes with a pdf of instructions with pictures.  $80 for the complete kit with more than you need, so you can use the leftovers for other projects.  Would be a beautiful Christmas gift!!

I am selling Daniel's drum kit and my old tenor saxophone.  If you know anyone who would be interested, could you please pass on my number?  They are both in very good condition, perfect for beginners.  Drum kit $300 & Sax $400, we are open to reasonable offers.

Well, off to a mountain of cleaning!  Plus, I have lots of scrapping to do ;-) First though, some grocery shopping.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

PAGE MAPS   $22
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

We are going to have some fun with our Around the Page border punch sets for this Page Map!  Holding 5 photos with plenty of room for extra embellishments and lots of journaling!!  You will need your basic tool kit, around the page border punches (I used two different sets, but one is fine), inks, stapler, your title and any extra embellishments.  You will require 5 photos for this layout - 2 portrait @ 4”x6”; 2 landscape @ 4½”x2¾” and 1 landscape @ 2½”x2”.

Okay, this is short and sweet, I know, but I am off to get ready for opening night of Grease tonight.  It's been a long week, being in the theatre since Sunday night!!
