Next TWO Weeks ... 14 - 24th April 2014

Good Morning Sunshine :-)

I'm sure the sun is shining somewhere, just not here in cloudy Adelaide... at least it isn't as cold as it looks!

No rest here, busy, busy, busy!!!  Always the way, you have times when everything happens all at once. Should be all back to a manageable pace after the holidays ;-)

Next Fortnight's Workshop is ...
PAGE MAPS   $21
Monday 14th @ 7-9pm
Thursday 24th @ 1-3pm
Please note that this one class is for the fortnight, accommodating school holidays and public holidays.  There is no workshop in the first week on Thursday 17th or the second week on Monday 21st.

I have slightly changed this single page to have two 4x6" photos - one portrait and one landscape. You can see there's a lot packed into this little gem.  We are going to be doing some paper pleating which will complement the border punching to a tee :-)
You will need two photos @ 4"x6", one landscape and one portrait.
You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, edge distresser, paper piercer, border punch, craft knife and your title.

Happy school holidays!! If you have children or are looking after the grand kiddles, stay sane ;-)

If I don't see you before, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter- take lots of photos and don't eat too many Easter eggs!

Remember to acknowledge the fallen on ANZAC Day, maybe I'll see you at the Henley Dawn Service (I'll be in the band).

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 7th April 2014

Good morning :-)

How has your week been?  Did you get to see the king tide anywhere on Wednesday evening?  I took my camera down to the causeway and snapped some pics of the water and the railway bridge.  What photos have you been snapping? Can't wait to see them on your scrap layouts soon!

I finally have my new computer all plugged in and running - now to learn how to use it!  In the meantime, I shall still be updating from my iPad while I verse myself with the mac system.  BIG learning curve when I've only ever used dos and windows!  Patience, patience :-)

Next Week's Workshop is ...
CHALK IMPRESSIONS    $19
Monday @ 7-9pm and Thursday @ 1-3pm
We are going to be stamping with veramark ink and rubbing chalks (soft pastel sticks) to create an interesting element to our page - so much fun to see the hidden image pop to life!  There are 7 photos on this page and they're all 4x6" - yay I hear you say, lol!!  So you'll need 3 portrait 4x6" photos and 4 landscape 4x6" photos. You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, edge distresser, corner rounder, chalks or soft pastel sticks (if you don't have any, I will have mine in the workshop for you to use.), a title (You can see I used some tiny type alpha stickers as the title space is small on this layout.) and some versamark ink - if you don't have one, they're $4.50 each in the shop.  If you have a stamp that you would like to use, by all means bring it along, otherwise you will be using the paisley image I have used on my layout.

LANDSCAPE vs PORTRAIT
Which way is up???  Sometimes it is just a little confusing!!
With a landscape orientation photo the longest measurement is the width of the photo, the shorter measure is the height.  A portrait orientation photo has the longest measurement as the height and the shorter is the width.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Oh my, they are nearly here!!!  Hasn't that time flown by?  After a bit of a discussion with some of you, I have decided to have a workshop on the first Monday evening (14th) and the second Thursday (24th). With Easter bang in the middle followed by Anzac Day the next weekend it is a school holiday full of public holidays!!  This will be the same workshop, more details next week :-)

BASIC TOOL KIT
Some of the things you need in your basic tool kit -
12" trimmer, scissors, adhesives - double sided tape, foam mounting squares, inks, paper piercer, craft knife, ruler, pencil, eraser, journal pen, tweezers, acrylic block for acrylic stamps, stazon.... just to name a few :-)

I hope you have a lovely weekend, mine is going to be busy super busy and super fun!
Happy scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 31st March 2014

Hello talented ones :-)

How has your week been?  Mine ... super busy!!!

My demo at spotlight was lots of fun, I spoke to lots of ladies and one hubby who was quite amused that I was cutting up paper and sticking it back together again, lol!  I just smiled, on the inside I was thinking that he wouldn't be wearing any clothes if someone didn't cut up material and sew the pieces back together :-D I am hopeful that I have encouraged a few lovely ladies to come along to workshops,  with the prospect of Monday night classes becoming a viable night again - wouldn't that be lovely?

I still and computerless, so I will have to do the workshops week by week until I am all set up.  Thank goodness for my iPad :-) School holidays start in two weeks and they contain Easter plus Anzac Day, so there will probably be no workshops - but we shall see how busy I am!  There will definitely be NO Scrap'n'Roast or Art Journal workshop as I have something on every weekend in April!!! Not to worry, we will get back into everything during May as the weather gets colder, the nights longer - perfect for more scrapping me thinks, don't you agree?

Next Weeks Workshop is ...
Page Maps   $21
As you can see I have butchered, err, I mean, redrawn this page map to suit more manageable size photos :-) This isn't as difficult as it seems, so when you find a page sketch that you like - except the photo sizes don't suit, then just think a little and redraw keeping the basic layout that caught your eye in the first place!
You will need 5 photos, 2 @ 4x6" portrait, 1 @ 4x6" landscape, 1 @ 4x3 1/2 portrait and 1 @ 4 1/2 x 5"  portrait (this one could be a 4x6 that you trim to size.)
You will also need your basic tool kit, 2 different border punches, inks, stazon or distress ink, paper piercer, title, circle cutting system (approx 6 1/4") and a 1" circle punch.

I hope you have enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend - gotten all your washing done (woohoo, I did!), maybe a spot of gardening or a last swim :-)

Happy scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 24th March 2014

Hello :-)

Bet you thought I had forgotten to update the blog!!!  Well, you'd be right!  Oopsie!

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend, refreshed and ready to go forward into the new week ahead.

Next Week's Workshop is ...
IT'S A BLING THING   $24
Monday 7-9pm and Thursday 1-3pm
Gotta love some bling and it’s fun on everything, even scrap layouts!!  We are going to be using sequins and glitter varnish to create our subtle bling for this layout.  As part of the class, a bottle of glitter varnish is included, once you’ve used it you’ll use it again and again ;-)  You will need one 3x3 photo for this fun layout.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, corner rounder, a paintbrush, a border punch and strong adhesive like xpress clear gel or pritt liquid to attach the sequins.
**This is the last Monday evening workshop for a while.  They will start again when I have a minimum of 4 people in the class. So, if you know someone who wants to come scrapping on a Monday night...let me know :-)

ART JOURNALING   $22
Friday 28th 1-3pm and 7-9pm
We are going back to high school chem class and I am going to show you how to make your own fluid acrylic paints!  This type of paint is, as the name suggest, very fluid and move around the page as well as blending beautifully, but they are very expensive.  Soooo….. we are going to make our own using our everyday acrylic paints and some other magic ingredients ;-)  You will need to bring your acrylic paints, watercolour crayons/pencils, white gel pen/paint pen, gesso, background stamps (like text and random all over pattern), stazon ink, acrylic block, punchinella or a similar small circle stencil, a pencil and a flourish type stamp. Included in this workshop are the extra magic ingredients so you can make lots and lots of colours of fluid acrylic paints at home :-)
As you can see in the pic, I haven't added my two word quote/inspiration... There is a space for it, but I want you to find your own two word quote to stamp onto the page during the workshop!!  I know, mean, mean, mean!!!  Here's a few to get you thinking...

  • Seek Clarity
  • Tiny Changes
  • Dream Big
  • Clear Clutter
  • Free Yourself
  • Live Now
  • Think Positive
  • Let Go

Okey dokey, off to get the washing off the line.
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 17th March 2014

Hello, hello :-)

How are we all this week?

Firstly, I need to let you know that I no longer have a land-line phone.  As of the 14th March it has been disconnected.  If you need to contact me, you will need to ring my mobile or send an email.  Gavin and I have been trying to cut back on our expenses to save and the phone was on the list to cut.

Secondly, due to lack of numbers both the Copic Workshop and Scrap'n'Roast scheduled for next Saturday (22nd) have been cancelled.  I am sure you can understand that I am running a business and there needs to be a minimum of 4 people for a lesson to be viable.  Sorry for the few people who had booked in, but alas it was not meant to be. I have made the decision there won't be any more Copic workshops in the future and I am seriously considering the same fate for the Scrap'n'Roasts.

Lastly, beginning April, there will no longer be a Monday night workshop.  I have been running Monday evenings with only two people for quite a while, but it is just not viable to continue to do this.  :-(

Next Week's Workshop is ...
Attack Your Stash   $10
Thursday 20th, 1-3pm
I apologize for  my magazine cutouts in place of my photos, lol!!  This page is ready for me to print the photos of my son having his hair cut and head shaved for this years worlds greatest shave :-)
Not only are we going to attack your stash of papers for this layout, we are also going to attack your stack of photos!  You will need 4 portrait photos @ 4x6” and 6 landscape photos @ 4x3” (or a combination of 2x3” portraits and 4x3” landscapes to make up the 12” span).  Along with your basic tool kit, inks, large corner rounder, paper piercer and 2” circle punch, you will also need from your stash the following -
Background 2 x cardstock
Contrast 1 2 x cardstock
Contrast 2 1 x patterned paper
Ribbon (to go across both pages)
Lace (to go across both pages)
Photo turns x 4
Brads x 4 (for the photo turns)

Have a great weekend.
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 10th March 2014

Good morning crafty ones :-)

Aren't we lucky to have had such beautiful weather this long weekend?  Just lovely... sitting outside in my Adirondack chair reading, doesn't happen often! Very relaxing.  I hope you've had a wonderful long weekend too.

Stamp-It is the next wholesaler I will be ordering from.  They stock distress inks, dylusions sprays, tim holtz bits, stamps, stencils - the list is endless!  You can visit their website to see all the great products - www.stampitwholesale.com.au/view/home
Please let me know if you would like to order any products by Thursday 20th March.

Bookings for the fun workshops listed below are being taken, but not looking very good.  Looks like this months Copic and Scrap'n'Roast are both going to be cancelled and already Monday nights workshop has been cancelled :-(

COPIC WORKSHOP   $20
Saturday 22nd March 1 - 3 pm
We haven't done much Copic colouring lately and February’s workshop was cancelled, hopefully this workshop will go ahead! I am going to show you a fun technique called No Line Colouring. There is still a line, but it's not as bold as we would normally use. Included in your workshop is a Memento ink pad which is a requirement for this technique. This fun technique has become popular lately due to the effective illustration style it results in, and the personal colouring challenge it presents. I think you are going to love the difference to your stamped images! You will need to bring along your Copic markers and your glasses ;-P
Blending card, Memento Ink Pad and stamped image supplied.

SCRAP'N'ROAST   $20
Saturday 22nd March 4pm - midnight
The next Scrap'n'Roast evening is scheduled for the 22nd, so start pulling out those projects you want to finish or maybe something new that you can work on for 8 hours!!!

Please remember to book into all workshops so I can prepare for you.  Deposits for the Scrap'n'Roast are required to secure your booking.

Next Week's Workshop is ...
QUILTING FUN   $22
Monday - CANCELLED
Thursday - 1-3pm

Who doesn’t love a quilt, warm and snugly with beautiful pieces of fabric sewn together in amazing patterns?  Well, we are going to recreate a simple quilt background for our photos to rest upon with some simply cute and wonderful ‘appliqué’ to tie it all together!  You will need 4 landscape photos @ 4x6.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, title and your circle cutting system to cut circles ranging from 1 1/2 up to 3” circles.
As you can see in the photo above, I have begun to stitch around the 'quilted' triangles.  This is optional, you can leave it out or use a journal pen to draw in the stitching.   It's up to you!  We will not be sewing in the workshop.

Enjoy the last of this Adelaide Cup Long Weekend.
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)
