Next Week...20 September 2010

Good morning Scrappers!

What a busy week - unfortunately, not too much scrapping happening!  Looking forward to Scrap'n'Roast tomorrow night so I can get my hands onto some scrapbooking stuff and start creating!!!

We had a great workshop this week and I took photos of the all pages...head over to the gallery or facebook to see all the variations, they are just fantastic!  Did you know you can add photos of your work to the Made by Mandy Facebook group if you have joined it?  It's a wonderful way to share your work with friends who can't see it in person.  If you need some help uploading your photos, just ask, I'm more than happy to give you a hand.

Scrap'n'Roast   $16   Saturday 18th September 4pm - Midnight
There are three places for tomorrow evenings Scrap'n'Roast.  If you are interested, please ring or email me to book in.  A wonderful fun evening, 8 hours of scrapping with a Roast Dinner!!  Everyone always has so much fun, loads of talking and laughing, scrapping ideas all around! Because of school holidays and my next theatre engagement the next scrap'n'roast is not until 23rd October!!!

Speaking of the next show - if you are interested, here is the link for more information and ticket booking.  The show is 'And the World Goes Round' and the band is on the stage, so you will actually be able to see us! I even have to do some backup vocals in one piece - scary with my voice...there is a reason I play an instrument!!!
“Sometimes you’re happy and sometimes you’re sad – but the world goes ’round.” Life – with its glories, indignities, hopes and quiet dreams – is the subject of this stunning revue of the beloved songs of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

Next Week's Workshop....
TAKING IT TO THE EDGE   $16
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

So - how do you dress up a plain background paper to match the theme of your photos??? You stamp like a mad woman possessed - muhahahahaha!!!!  Learn how to very simply change the look & theme of any paper with simple stamping around the edges of your page.  You will need  3 photos - 1@4x6” Landscape; 1@4x6” Portrait & 1@2½x3¼” Portrait.  You will also need your basic tool kit, a stamp, a border punch, edge distressor, title, inks, paper piecer and any extra embellishments that will suit your theme (I cut out music notes & used some glitter music notes as well).
A bit of a teaser for the Fantastic Fun Crop Day to be held on the 30th October from 10am-4pm...
This fun day replaces the Fiskars day with Michelle.  All bookings for the Fiskars day have been cancelled and I have started the bookings afresh.  If you would like to come along for the day, making this Faux Paperbag Mini Album, $15 includes the basic kit, embellishments extra or byo (I will let you know exactly what is needed closer to the day), bring a plate of lunch to share, coffee/tea/milo/water available all day, wonderful company and you will complete a mini album (same papers as pictured) that will hold over 20 photos!!!!  Bookings are essential.

That's all for this week.  Have a great weekend.  If you are down at the Breakout Creek Wetlands at Lockleys on Saturday morning, come over to the main marquee and wave to the band - I'll be there!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy

Hi everyone,
Busy, busy here!  Cooking, cleaning and general tidying up...with Daniel -groan- helping!  (I have had to re-do the vaccuming and have decided not to look at other finished jobs...)  I have managed to get some scrapping done - working on the new project for the next day workshop in October ... looking cute so far ... you'll have to wait & see what it looks like ;-P

I just realised it is nearly school holidays!!  OMG!!  Better get my thinking cap on for activities to keep the kids amused without costing me a fortune!  Hopefully the weather will be a bit better.  Also means that I only have about 3 rehearsals left before the next musical I am playing for starts!!!  Hope this chesty gunk moves soon so I can start doing some practise...

Next week's workshop is...

Next Week ... 6 September 2010

Spring has sprung....but obviously doesn't know what to do as it is still acting like winter!!!!  It's raining really heavily and thundering as I sit here at the computer.

Next Week's Workshop.... Page Maps September     $19
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am

Last week's giveaway winner is Kathryn H - yeah Kathryn!  I shall give you your prize bag on Thursday.

The next Scrap'n'Roast, $16, is on the 18th September.  I have had a few cancellations, so there are two spots up for grabs - first in!!  A $5 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.

Last weekend, Catherine, Lisa, Kim & I had the best day creating a gorgeous mini album in lieu of the cancelled Fiskars day (see post below for photos).  The next Fiskars Crop Day is scheduled for 30th October and will go ahead with me teaching instead of Michelle.  We will have another great project to complete, so if you want to come along, please contact me to book in.  If you were booked in on the 30th, can you please let me know if you would still like to come along so that I can make sure I have enough materials. I am renaming these days to Fantastic Fun Crop, so keep an eye out in upcoming blog posts and the calendar to see when future ones will be scheduled.  The scheduled Fiskars Days will go ahead as per Michelle's original dates for this year.

Well the heater is on and it is dark outside - even though it is only midday!!  Going to make myself a hot chocolate...mmmm!

Stay warm and happy scrapping,
Mandy

Saturday Scrapping Fun!

In lieu of the Fiskars Crop Day, we still got together & created these gorgeous mini albums!
Plus we learnt how to make Penny Duncan's PDC Roses that are soooo beautiful!  Thankyou Penny for sharing your creative talent.
Lisa was here too, her album was gorgeous pinks!  She had to zoom home to a houseful of teenagers - bet she would have rather stayed scrapping!!!

Next time you're in the workshop, have a look at my album.  Just think what could be in-store for future Fun Crop Days!!!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy

Next Week ... 30 August 2010

Good evening scrappy girls!

Just finished some delicious chinese chicken noodle soup with toast...mmmmmm.  Hope you are keeping toasty warm too!

This Saturday (28th) is going to be busy, busy, busy!  During the day is the Fiskars Crop Day.  $15 10am-4pm.  Unfortunately Michelle can't make it, so I have found a gorgeous shabby chic mini envelope flip album and we are going to make it!!  Mine isn't finished as this is very short notice - but here is a pic of my partly completed cover (yes I am going to show you how to make the roses!!!!) and one of the envelope pages (it contains three envelopes which become pockets and a kind of gatefold album as well).
If you are interested in coming along to make this cute album on Saturday, there is still time to book in as there are quite a few spots available.  I need to know by 4pm tomorrow (27th) so I can make up the kits.  You will need to bring a plate of lunch to share, your basic tool kit, inks, paper scraps to decorate the pages & tags, border punches, 1" circle punch, plus embellishments to pretty the album up (bling, ribbon, lace, buttons, etc..) If you have a hot glue gun and embossing heat tool, bring them too - then you don't have to wait!  Ring, email or even leave a comment on the blog/facebook.  I will check by 4pm so I know who is coming :-)

Saturday night (28th) is the next Scrap'n'Roast.  Starting at 4 until midnight - that's 8 hours of scrapping heaven...especially when you don't have to cook dinner!  $16 for the evening and there is one spot left.

Next week's workshop is -
INTRO TO PAPER FLOWERS   $16
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am
You know how much I love using flowers on my layouts and I am always on the lookout for new flowers, either handmade or bought.  My friend emailed me a link for this wonderful paper flower and I had to make it straight away!  It is a real centrepiece and would look lovely on a card or even as a present topper.  We are also doing a bit of recycling with this layout - can you see where?  You only need one portrait 4x6” photo for this layout as well as your basic tool kit, inks, 1” circle punch, paper piecer, embroidery needle, a title (I cut mine from the leftover contrast) and your slice/cricut machine if you wish to cut your title as I did.

No catastrophes this week and have put together a very summery prize pack to celebrate the end of winter, which of course brings us closer to summer!
You know what to do....leave a comment on the blog to go into the draw for this summer page kit, packet of extra large alphas, under the sun tag sheet and a Heidi Grace flower punch.  Good luck!

That's all for know - just leave you with a little pic of my sweet ballerina girl at last week's dress rehearsal... they are butterflies!!

Keep warm and happy scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 16 August 2010

Hi!  Another week - been very exciting and busy here, how about you?

Let's see....  Firstly, I started a Made by Mandy Scrapbooking group on Facebook!  It is open to everyone, so head on over and join the group.  You can post images of your work, list a bargain you've found somewhere, invite your scrapping friends to join.  A great way to keep up with what's happening in my store too!

Then, I was struck by inspiration and made what I think are some really gorgeous flowers.  They are ready for sale, ready for you to decorate.  I think you will love them too. (See post below)

I also went mad cutting out chipboard shapes from Tim Holtz's latest range of dies (which are to die for - pardon the pun!) and put them on eBay for sale.  You can follow the link from the facebook group to see them and buy them.  You can local pickup them from me next time you are in the store.

Lastly, I booked flights to Vietnam (sorry for the disruption during Wednesday's class ladies!) to go and visit my brother and family.  My kids are understandably super excited...

Tomorrow night's Scrap'n'Roast Pyjama Party is all set to be one fun evening!  If you thought you had missed out I have had one cancellation so that means there is 1 spot available for this great evening.  So if you want to come along, ring or email me quickly...first in, best dressed, in pyjama's of course!
$16 4pm - midnight.
