Hello everyone!
Hope you are all well. I am quickly sending this off to while the children are in the pool!!! Yes, the first swim of the season - have to go out & take some photos.

Thanks to all the girls who came to the 1st Slice Girls club last night. Hope you learnt a bit about your little wonder machines & will use them to their fullest capabilities! Don't be scared to use them. I have sent off the order for the mats & cards this morning, so should be here in 2 weeks.

Next Week - Weaving magic
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am
Weaving - it is one of the oldest art forms using materials to make all manner of items. We are going to use paper strips to create a stunning woven corner to highlight our photos with the title of Remember Moments - which can cover any event! You will need 1 landscape photo @ 4x6”, 2 landscape photos @ 2x3”, your basic tool kit, title, inks, 2” & 1½” circle punch/cutting system. *Slice girls - Words & Expressions has words galore to choose for your title.

Next weekend, Saturday 31st, is going to be busy, busy, busy!!!
Michelle is holding her Fiskars Last Minute Christmas Ideas from 10am - 4pm. This is fully booked. Those of you booked in, please bring your basic tool kit and lunch to share. Tea & coffee facilities are available, just bring your water bottle or any other drinks you would like.
Scrap'n'Roast follows the Fiskars workshop from 4.30 - midnight! This session is fully booked. First one in a while after my theatre stint!!

Friday 6th November, 7-9pm, is the first of the Photoshop workshops. $10 for the evening. In this workshop we will be doing some navigation around Photoshop & basic photo cropping using a clipping mask - you will absolutely love it! No more headaches when I ask for funny sized photos with this handy application. Spaces still available. If you have a laptop, bring it along as you can work along with me. Don't worry if you haven't as I will have my laptop hooked up to a projector screen, so you will be able to see exactly what is happening. Please let me know if you are bring a laptop, so I can prepare a disk for you in advance - this kind of workshop is much easier if we are all working on the same pictures.

Saturday 7th November, 4pm - midnight, I will be having a impromptu Scrap'n'Roast, $15. The only person booked into this evening so far is me!!! So ring or email me back to book in & scrap the night away. First in, best dressed (scrapper that is!)

I have put in an order for some of the new EK success border punches & also have some of the latest machines coming called i-top from Imaginese. They allow you to create your own brads - go here & have a look at the videos & see how easy it is to make your own customised brads for your projects. http://www.imaginisce.com/Videos.aspx So keep your eyes peeled in the shop for new papers, tools & well......you'll just have to wait & see!!
That's all for now. Off to put dinner on & take pics of the children. Then taking Jennifer to see Fame (on stage, not the movie). Have friends on stage & in the pit. Looking forward to being in the audience for a change!
See you all soon,

Mandy

Next Week...19th October

Hi girls,
Another week ready for scrapping! I have finished my shows and am looking forward to a bit of quite time!!! Thanks to all of you who came along and supported our own local SA talent & community theatre. I can now say that I am officially a screw loose - lost one in the pit off my tenor sax & couldn't fit it!!! Luckily, it was still playable for the last two shows - phew!
Next show for me is 42nd street in May 2010 - it's going to be a really fun toe tapping show!

Page Maps October $16
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am

I had so much fun taking these photos of the kids in the pool - of course they had to have their own layout! Then I found this Becky Fleck page map - just perfect! You will need 7 photos - 1@8x6” landscape; 1@4x6” landscape; 3@4x3½” landscape; 1@4x3”landscape & 1@4x2¾” landscape!!! You will also need your basic tool kit, kindy glitz/stickles, a title, your inks, a border punch & some fibre (to tie onto tag top). If you don't have a 8x6" landscape photo - you can get away with a 4x6" landscape photo.

The first Slice Girls Club is on Friday 23rd August, 7-9pm! It is so exciting that so many of you have purchased a Slice machine! I thought it would be great to get together to share tips & tricks, get the latest news & just have fun with our little slices. This is a free evening. Bring along your slice, ½ sheet of cardstock, ½ sheet of double sided paper, ink to match, a button & some tape/adhesive. If you haven’t already got one - you will be christened with a Slice girls name!!!! If you have been thinking about this cute little machine, come along & see how they work.

Happy scrapping,
Mandy

Next Week ... 12 October 2009

Good morning scrappy girls!
Still busy here with Calamity Jane - two shows today! BIG sleep-in tomorrow!!!! I used my slice & the tag design card to cut out the unofficial 'Band Dressing Room' sign, all inked & attached to string, all in keeping with the theme!! Will take a photo before it comes down. Only two more sleeps & kids are back at school.....good & bad, means they are not hanging around annoying me because they are bored, but means I have to get up & out of bed early to take them to school....guess I can just go in my pj's & hop back into bed when I get home!!!! (Very unlikely, but dreams are fun!!!)

It is hay fever season & those of you who know me well, know that I am a bad sufferer. Could I please ask....very, very nicely...if everyone could please refrain from wearing perfumes in the scrap room. My eyes, nose, throat & lungs thank you very much!!!

Next weeks workshop is Storyboard $18
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm; Thursday 9.30-11.30am

Have you got a series of photos that tell a story? Well lets put them onto a layout...storyboard style! Using a storyboard eliminates the need for journaling as you only need a title & the date as the photos tell the story for you. You will need 8 photos - 4@4x6” portrait & 4@4x6” landscape. You will also need your basic tool kit, dymo machine, title, embroidery needle & floss, dimensional magic & any embellishments you think will match your ‘story’ (I have used flowers cut from paper, buttons, silk flower & a transparency with a saying on it).

Bookings for the upcoming Scrap'n'Roasts, Slice Girls Club, Christmas Card Workshop & Photoshop Workshops are filling fast! I have attached the newsletter again to the email, as some of you didn't realize it was there & accidentally deleted it. So sit done with a coffee & let me know what you would like to book into.

See you all soon, keep on scrapping!!
