Digital Scrapping with Tracy Watson....

I have been doing a series of online workshops on getting started in Digital Scrapping. Lots of fun! Have a look and what I created - from scratch. Much more fun when someone shows you what can be done. ;-) I was impressed with my 'flourishes' - they are a capital L in a fancy font - who would have thunked! Bit different to normal scrapping, but I enjoy playing on the computer and it is sooooo easy to hit the undo button if you don't like it!

Kim Archer classes!!

Just finished another great class with Kim Archer, that makes two in two weeks!! Here are the layouts that I did. One is the Celebrating You workshop from last week and the other is Just for Fun from today. If you get a chance zoom over to her blog and look in the gallery to see everyones layouts - it's good to see how every layout looks so different! I love the celebrate you - I used all scraps except for the background cardstock!!! I also love the colour combination - it came together by accident, but works well, I think so anyway.

Those of you who have seen my Flowers & Stripes layout for October will see the same technique Kim used for the Just for Fun layout - to make a background out of strips of paper - I just didn't sew down the middle of them - I know how much you all don't like sewing!!

Catch you all soon :-)

Looking forward to seeing the entries for the next competition - FRIENDS is the theme. Submit a single or double layout for a chance to win a TLC Cardz Kit!

I’M THANKFUL FOR...7th & 11th September
What are you thankful for? This is a great layout to get you thinking and using a photo of
you!!! When was the last time you scrapped you - I mean a recent photo of you…. You
will need to think about what you are thankful for and come prepared with a list of at least
10 things. This layout uses an A4 size photo (mine is B&W) and lots of embellishing.
Bring along your supply of ribbons, floss, buttons, brads and flowers. These are available
for sale if you need them. You will also need an embroidery needle. **If you can’t get
your photo blown up to A4, I can print it for you at a cost of $8 per page. I have used
chipboard letters for my title - there will be sets available for sale, or you can cut out letters
using a stencil. Class cost $10.00 - includes cardstock and paper
WHAT’S IN A NAME- 21st & 25th September
A rose by any other name…. What does a name mean to you? This one page layout
uses one photo (portrait orientation). You will take your name and use each letter to think
of a word that describes the person. Beautiful for a title page or to frame as an extra
special gift. I have used chipboard letters for my title - there will be sets available for
sale, or you can cut out letters using a stencil. Class cost $15- includes cardstock,
paper, metal frame

great contrast. Class cost $19 - includes cardstock, patterned paper, 1 x pkt of
quicksand chip flowers & silk flowers.

photographs… eye catching titles… neat columns of text. Sound good? This refreshing
style of scrapbooking is often inspired by print advertisements, billboards, cd jackets,
magazine articles and other designs. In this workshop learn how to use your inner
“Designer’s Eye” to create a layout with graphic design qualities! Class cost $14 -
includes cardstock, patterned paper

Computer Gremlins!

Hi everyone! Sitting at the local library, checking my emails and putting in a few orders. Bit of a delay getting the new newsletter emailed out, my computer internet and email are out of action, grrrr. Managed to get a Trojan Horse....luckily my virus programme picked it up! Anyway, it deleted a few operating system files and now I feel like my hands are tied behind my back!!! Fortunately, I can still use everything else on my computer and the newsletter will be coming out in paper form. You will receive it next week at workshops.
Don't forget this weekend is the SA Stamping and Scrapbooking Fair at Immanuel College. Look forward to seeing you there!
Hopefully computer will be back up and fully operational soon (I am having huge withdrawls!!)

Scrap'n'Soup

Last night saw 7 of us scrapping and supping!! Lots of talking and singing (especially when abba came on!) Everyone managed to get at least two layouts done - and some completed unfinished layouts.....yeah! I managed to get this layout done for Acacia Paper Craft - they are running a contest for retailers using the reminiscence range of papers. The fun part, all the papers had TIME TO REORDER printed boldly in black across them! I even used one of the TIME words - I thought that was clever - even if no-one else does!! My band conductor will be happy, as he requested a folder cover that looked like a book of olde, for a narrated number we play, and I got that done minus the title, have to check about that.
People looking over my shoulder while I was working my last layout - "that looks cute", "ooh I like that", you get the gist - well not to worry because it is for a workshop in the September/October calendar, so you will get to do it too!
The soup was warm and yummy (even if I do say so myself, as I made it!) and the hot bread - mmmmm...... we all were hot after eating!! Lisa and I even changed into t-shirts.... I do suspect Gavin had turned the heating up, being banned to the computer/scrap room where the heating doesn't warm the room as much!
My new bargain sewing machine got a workout - $30 well spent! It will be available for Creative Crops and Scrap Nights from now on, and of course during some workshops where I will make you all sew on your pages!!!
Anyway, thanks to Lisa, Pam, Lesley (spelled it right this time!!), Catherine, Yvonne and Lindi for coming over for a fun evening.
The next one is the 26th August and is already booked out, but I will let you know if there are any cancellations. Got to get in early for these nights - watch out for the next newsletter and the September/October dates.
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy

Hour or Power with Kim Archer

Just finished a gorgeous layout in Kim's on-line class. Amazingly, my children didn't interupt me for the whole hour!! Love the finished layout - as does Jennifer. Now I have to do one for Daniel - got all the papers out and ready to go. What a shame - more scrapping!! It's a hard life, but someone has to do it :)

My little Red Robin (Family stuff)

Hey Bro, thought you might like to see your beautiful niece - all dressed up and ready for her first ever pantomime! Here we are backstage - with me in the morning for a full technical rehearsal and by herself (with more make-up) for the real performance.

The programme read:

One Magic Night
In the still of the night, when all the forest is quiet, the magic begins to unfurl. Jewelled Sylphs, who have not been seen for many years, appear with the Night Spirits. The presence of the Jewelled Sylphs begins to brighten the forest and with the help of the Jewelled Fairies and Fireflies, all creature now start to awaken.
We see Ladybirds & Grasshoppers, Fairy Sprites & Pixies. Of course, a forest is not complete without the Owls, Dragonflies & Spiders - such characters they are! Forest children come to see this magical event and delight in the antics of the Mice, Birds, Butterflies, Bunnies & Bluebells. They all dance for joy, wishing this magic time would never end, but the Jewelled Sylphs must return to their secret location, only known by the night spirits. The Mice and bunnies try to follow but become too weary to continue their journey into the darkness - once again silence and darkness fall upon the forest.

Dad, Mary and Julie came with Gavin, Daniel and I - it was so gorgeous! The mice and bunnies were the smallest girls (some only 4 years old), and wandered around the stage forgetting everything - was so cute. Jennifer's class - the red robins, did a great job with their part. I will send you the dvd when I get a copy. Here are the offical portraits -

~~~Wonderful Wire~~~
Back again, here is the wiring double page layout. Apologies for the quality of the scan! I have used 8 photos on this layout - they were all 4x6 originally and have been cropped down. You have the choice of reprinting photos smaller (say about 3x4) or cropping.
We will be making the cutest dragonfly with wire and beads in this workshop as well.
Don't forget you need to bring a pair of needle nosed (pointy) pliers with you. You will choose your own colour scheme for this class - so let your photos be your guide!
Chalk Popping
Hi girls, thought I would scan (albeit not very well) the upcoming layouts so you could get an idea of photos you might want to use.
Here is the "Chalk Popping" layout. A one page layout - you will choose your own colour scheme, ie. paper & cardstock.
This is a nice 'get your fingers messy' workshop! Don't worry - I will have plenty of wipes on hand for you ;-)
Scrap of a Competition!
The theme of the competition is ‘SPRING’ . You can submit a 12” x 12” single or double layout, a card, a tag, anything in this theme. You can submit your entry via email, by mail or in person. I will return your entry to you after the close of the competition! The entries have to be in by August 18, 2006 and the winner will receive a TLC Hot Fudge Scrapbook Kit (RRP $16.00) of her own choice! The winning entry will be in the next newsletter and on my website - if you enter into this competition, you are agreeing to have your work published in my newsletter and on my blog. Happy scrapping!
{Canvas Art}
I have really enjoyed the last two weeks of classes. You all have had so much fun creating your canvases - well done! They are going to look soooo cute where ever you put them and be the envy of every passerby! What a great way to finish off the June workshops. Looking forward to the new workshops for July and August as I'm sure you are too.
I will get started on my 24x24" canvas, I promise, as soon as I have decided on the photos! Maybe I'll have to set up a photo shoot to get the perfect photos!! ;-)
