Next Week...23 November 2009

Hi everyone,
Wasn't today a lovely relief from the hot then humid conditions!

A BIG Thankyou to the Thursday ladies for your understanding at my last minute cancellation of last week's workshop so that I could attend & play a musical tribute at a funeral. I am glad some of you could make it to Wednesday's workshop.

Can't believe it is sooooo close to Christmas already!!! Less than 5 weeks - omg, so much to organise & it is zooming by so quickly! There are quite a few lay-by's at the moment under my counter, lay-by's are only for 8 weeks, although I am fairly lax at enforcing that! So, if you have a current lay-by, I would really appreciate that they be finalised before Christmas gets here. If you can't finalise your lay-by, please talk to me so we can make some arrangements as all the current lay-bys are due before Christmas, a few are already over the 8 week mark. Thankyou so much with your help in this matter.

Next Week - Attack Your Stash $8
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am

For this attack your stash, I want you to dig up some flourishes - they can be chipboard, stickers, rubons…. Plus find your glitter stash so I can show you an easy peasy glitter technique to enhance any page, card or embellishment. You will need 6 photos, 3 @ 4x6” portrait orientation, 1 @ 3x6” portrait orientation, 1 @ 3x6” landscape orientation & 1 @ 2 7/8 x 6” landscape orientation. Two patterned papers for your background, Contrast 1 - 2 cardstock, 28” ribbon, scallop ruler, title, flourishes, other embellishments, glitter, adhesive tape 3&6mm wide plus your basic tool kit & of course, your inks. *Slice girls - Basics 3 has flourishes galore!

This weekend (28th November) sees Michelle here for another great Fiskars Crop Day the theme is Last minute Christmas Ideas. Starting at 10am though until 4pm. There have been 2 cancellations - so there are 2 spots up for grabs if there's anyone who wants to come along. You need to bring your basic tool kit (no trolleys please) and a plate of lunch to share.

There is also a Scrap'n'Roast on this Saturday from 4.30pm until midnight. This is fully booked out.

Happy Scrapping
Mandy

Hello everyone!
Hope you are all well. I am quickly sending this off to while the children are in the pool!!! Yes, the first swim of the season - have to go out & take some photos.

Thanks to all the girls who came to the 1st Slice Girls club last night. Hope you learnt a bit about your little wonder machines & will use them to their fullest capabilities! Don't be scared to use them. I have sent off the order for the mats & cards this morning, so should be here in 2 weeks.

Next Week - Weaving magic
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am
Weaving - it is one of the oldest art forms using materials to make all manner of items. We are going to use paper strips to create a stunning woven corner to highlight our photos with the title of Remember Moments - which can cover any event! You will need 1 landscape photo @ 4x6”, 2 landscape photos @ 2x3”, your basic tool kit, title, inks, 2” & 1½” circle punch/cutting system. *Slice girls - Words & Expressions has words galore to choose for your title.

Next weekend, Saturday 31st, is going to be busy, busy, busy!!!
Michelle is holding her Fiskars Last Minute Christmas Ideas from 10am - 4pm. This is fully booked. Those of you booked in, please bring your basic tool kit and lunch to share. Tea & coffee facilities are available, just bring your water bottle or any other drinks you would like.
Scrap'n'Roast follows the Fiskars workshop from 4.30 - midnight! This session is fully booked. First one in a while after my theatre stint!!

Friday 6th November, 7-9pm, is the first of the Photoshop workshops. $10 for the evening. In this workshop we will be doing some navigation around Photoshop & basic photo cropping using a clipping mask - you will absolutely love it! No more headaches when I ask for funny sized photos with this handy application. Spaces still available. If you have a laptop, bring it along as you can work along with me. Don't worry if you haven't as I will have my laptop hooked up to a projector screen, so you will be able to see exactly what is happening. Please let me know if you are bring a laptop, so I can prepare a disk for you in advance - this kind of workshop is much easier if we are all working on the same pictures.

Saturday 7th November, 4pm - midnight, I will be having a impromptu Scrap'n'Roast, $15. The only person booked into this evening so far is me!!! So ring or email me back to book in & scrap the night away. First in, best dressed (scrapper that is!)

I have put in an order for some of the new EK success border punches & also have some of the latest machines coming called i-top from Imaginese. They allow you to create your own brads - go here & have a look at the videos & see how easy it is to make your own customised brads for your projects. http://www.imaginisce.com/Videos.aspx So keep your eyes peeled in the shop for new papers, tools & well......you'll just have to wait & see!!
That's all for now. Off to put dinner on & take pics of the children. Then taking Jennifer to see Fame (on stage, not the movie). Have friends on stage & in the pit. Looking forward to being in the audience for a change!
See you all soon,

Mandy

Next Week...19th October

Hi girls,
Another week ready for scrapping! I have finished my shows and am looking forward to a bit of quite time!!! Thanks to all of you who came along and supported our own local SA talent & community theatre. I can now say that I am officially a screw loose - lost one in the pit off my tenor sax & couldn't fit it!!! Luckily, it was still playable for the last two shows - phew!
Next show for me is 42nd street in May 2010 - it's going to be a really fun toe tapping show!

Page Maps October $16
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am

I had so much fun taking these photos of the kids in the pool - of course they had to have their own layout! Then I found this Becky Fleck page map - just perfect! You will need 7 photos - 1@8x6” landscape; 1@4x6” landscape; 3@4x3½” landscape; 1@4x3”landscape & 1@4x2¾” landscape!!! You will also need your basic tool kit, kindy glitz/stickles, a title, your inks, a border punch & some fibre (to tie onto tag top). If you don't have a 8x6" landscape photo - you can get away with a 4x6" landscape photo.

The first Slice Girls Club is on Friday 23rd August, 7-9pm! It is so exciting that so many of you have purchased a Slice machine! I thought it would be great to get together to share tips & tricks, get the latest news & just have fun with our little slices. This is a free evening. Bring along your slice, ½ sheet of cardstock, ½ sheet of double sided paper, ink to match, a button & some tape/adhesive. If you haven’t already got one - you will be christened with a Slice girls name!!!! If you have been thinking about this cute little machine, come along & see how they work.

Happy scrapping,
Mandy

Next Week ... 12 October 2009

BlankBlank
Good morning scrappy girls!
Still busy here with Calamity Jane - two shows today! BIG sleep-in tomorrow!!!! I used my slice & the tag design card to cut out the unofficial 'Band Dressing Room' sign, all inked & attached to string, all in keeping with the theme!! Will take a photo before it comes down. Only two more sleeps & kids are back at school.....good & bad, means they are not hanging around annoying me because they are bored, but means I have to get up & out of bed early to take them to school....guess I can just go in my pj's & hop back into bed when I get home!!!! (Very unlikely, but dreams are fun!!!)

Blank
It is hay fever season & those of you who know me well, know that I am a bad sufferer. Could I please ask....very, very nicely...if everyone could please refrain from wearing perfumes in the scrap room. My eyes, nose, throat & lungs thank you very much!!!

Next weeks workshop is Storyboard $18
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm; Thursday 9.30-11.30am

Have you got a series of photos that tell a story? Well lets put them onto a layout...storyboard style! Using a storyboard eliminates the need for journaling as you only need a title & the date as the photos tell the story for you. You will need 8 photos - 4@4x6” portrait & 4@4x6” landscape. You will also need your basic tool kit, dymo machine, title, embroidery needle & floss, dimensional magic & any embellishments you think will match your ‘story’ (I have used flowers cut from paper, buttons, silk flower & a transparency with a saying on it).

Blank

Bookings for the upcoming Scrap'n'Roasts, Slice Girls Club, Christmas Card Workshop & Photoshop Workshops are filling fast! I have attached the newsletter again to the email, as some of you didn't realize it was there & accidentally deleted it. So sit done with a coffee & let me know what you would like to book into.

See you all soon, keep on scrapping!!

Next Week...28th September

Hi Girls! What a funny week - sun, rain, hail, sun!!! Lucky it doesn't affect our scrapping, isn't it??!! LOL!
Well, I have finally finished the next newsletter so should be up on website soon - fingers crossed. Onto next week, the week first of the school holidays and the long awaited.....

Playing with Glimmermist $20
Monday 7-9pm, Wednesday 12-2pm & Thursday 9.30-11.30am
You are going to love this product from Tattered Angels! The pigment ink with a glitter suspension is just absolutely gorgeous!!!
I will show you some great ways to play with glimmer mist to make your pages unique. You will need only 1 photo, either orientation @ 4x6” for this page, your basic tool kit and inks. If you have a heat gun, bring that along so you don’t have to wait too long for drying! We will be working with the colours you can see in the above sneak peek - purple, blue & green. I did sew on this page - but it took me 4 hours....so that not be done in class, but you can do it at home at your leisure!

See you all soon - if you are coming to either Jesus Christ or Calamity Jane, I hope you really enjoy the shows. Come down to the pit & say hello (throw money or chocolate!!!)

Happy Scrapping - and to all the mum's hopefully a sane holiday break! I love that I don't have to rush in the mornings...

Next Week...21st September

Blank
Hi Girls,
All very exciting here - new sewing machine (which I still haven't turned on....yet!) & Jesus Christ starts this week!!!! A great Scrap'n'Roast last night, the last for a month due to my theatre fun. I am working on the last of the projects for the newsletter, so you should expect that in your inbox by the end of the week, if I don't get caught up playing with my machine too much! I will try and restrain myself...
Tags, Tags, Tags $14
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm; Thursday 9.30-11.30am

You all know I love tags - so I have turned some of my photos into tags on this page! You will love tags too when you have finished this workshop - they are so versatile and come in so many shapes and sizes!!! You will need 1 portrait orientation 4x6” photo, 1 photo that can be cropped to 4x3” landscape orientation and 3 photos that can be cropped to 4 3/8 x 2 1/8” landscape orientation for the tags. You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, mini stapler, photo corner punch, a border punch and something for your title (mine is printed onto 5 5/8 x 2 1/8” photo paper then cut into a tag shape).

Hope you all have a great week, see you soon. Happy Scrapping,

Mandy

Next Week...24th August

Hi Girls, Cold, wet & windy again this morning....that nice weather was just to lull us into a false sense of spring! Ahhh, but that won't stop us scrapping - no way!!!

Next week - the long awaited Que Sera Sera layout! $16
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm; Wednesday 7-9pm; Thursday 9.30-11.30am

One of the latest paper ranges from K&Co is the Que Sera Sera range - and it is gorgeous!! While not in kit form, I have kept the papers aside & you will choose from them to do your layout. That way you still have a bit of choice with colours & patterns. I have used some heritage photos on my layout from 1947, so they are of an irregular size, you will be able to use normal 4x6” photos, 2 portrait orientation & 1 landscape orientation. You will need your basic tool kit, inks, distress inks, a title (mine are small metal letters), journal pen and any extra embellishments you think will enhance your page - I have used a decorative button as part of my title, a silk flower, a die cut key & homemade tassel. If you have a threading water border punch, bring it along, so you don’t have to wait!

Scrap'n'Roast this Saturday, 22nd August, 4pm - midnight, $15. There are a few spots left if you would like to come along, ring, email or drop in to book & pay your $5 deposit to secure your spot.
The first of my impromptu Scrap'n'Roasts will be held on Saturday, 29th August, 4pm - midnight, $15. This one is completely open, so that means all 9 spots are up for grabs!! Be quick to ring, email or drop in to book & pay your $5 deposit to secure your spot.
Exciting news for me - I am going to be playing Sax in the upcoming production of Jesus Christ Superstar!!!! I am soooo excited, even if I have had to rewrite all the music! If you are interested you can book at Bass - here is the direct link to the show - http://www.bass.net.au/events/database/JESUSCHRIST2009/ Tickets are $29.65/$24.65. Should be a fantastic show - if you do come, don't forget to come down & say hello to me in the pit, before, after or at interval.
Off to warm my fingers!
Happy scrapping..
Mandy

Hi girls!
Just thought I would start letting you know what was happening each week via email.
The workshop for next week is "Dirty Dog". Here's the sneak peek - of course the layout is hanging in the shop.
You will need 1 4x6 landscape photo & 2 photos that can be cropped down - mine were landscape to start, but you could get away with either orientation. I have used lots of circle punches - so if you have any punches from 1" to 2" and any in-between, bring them with you so you don't have to wait. You will also need your inks & something for your title (I have used a large monogram letter & rub-ons) and journal pen.
Workshop times are - Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12-2pm; Thursday 9.30-11.30am. Please ring or email & book - this helps with my organisation and preparation, thanks!
On Saturday the 30th is the ever popular Scrap'n'Roast which has only 2 spots left - so get in quick! Scrap your way from 4pm until midnight with a roast dinner - if you can fit it in after munching on all the nibbles! The following Scrap'n'Roast will be the 13th June - so get in quick because it fills fast!!!
The June calendar starts soon - oh my, where has the first half of the year gone? Monthly card workshop is on Monday (1st June 9.30-11.30am), so book in to make some cute cards for any occasion. We will be playing with the Cuttlebug embossing plates and Black Magic Core-dinations card stock, the effect is stunning!
On Special in the shop are all the TLC page kits - a whopping 40% off the marked price. That's a bargain! Get in quick because they will not be available again.
New stock is coming in all the time, so drop in & have a look. If there's something special that you want - ask if I can order it in for you, if I can get it from my suppliers you just need to give me a 50% deposit, or start a lay-by and I will order it for you.
Hope you are all keeping well, see you soon in my little shop!

TA DA!!! Photos of new scrap room...

I have been asked to put some photos of my new scrapping space, aka, the old rumpus room, but now the new scrap room! Well here they are.... plenty of room for up to 10 scrappers, all my stock around the room including the fat free calorie free lolly shop section!!! (for all those pages that need embellishments!)

Just loving these paper racks - which I only just bought from Scrapbook Station's closing down sale. They take up less room....and doesn't the card stock look delicious!!!

Slack or am I???

Hi everyone, guess you think I have been really slack not updating my blog since January!!!

Well let me get you up to date...  Got back from Victor Harbor & spent the next 4 weeks in the caravan with no computer and yes during that heatwave!!   Managed to pack what I needed & headed off to Vietnam to visit Pete, creeping around the caravan at 5 in the morning is not easy!

Had an absolutely fabulous time visiting with my brother & his family.  Wonderful to hold little Poppy & meet her in person!  At only two months old, she was very cuddly...  Little Mila is growing into a very 'cheeky monkey', which she would repeat back to us when being extremely cute & cheeky!  Pete's birthday was great, meeting all his friends, dining on the banks of the Saigon River, a fantastic 4th 10th birthday!!!

Arrived home - thank goodness, Gavin & the kids had moved back into the house - Gavin had ended up doing the floors himself (so much for good tradespeople these days!), they look beautiful, he did a fantastic job.

So since then, I have been busy setting up shop!!!!  Yes the rumpus room is no more - it is now my Scrap Shop - yeah!  It is now all officially up & running.  Putting my sign out the front everyday opening from 10-2.  People are starting to wander in because they are seeing the sign - of course it helps that the Mill is over the road, so many people stop there!

I have been super busy scrappping  new layouts for the new newlsetter due out in April!  One layout left to do.... tomorrow!!  Today I have to wash, cook & clean - yuk, but it has to be done!

See you all soon in my shop!!!

Greetings from Victor Harbor

Hi guys,

Have just logged onto the caravan park's wifi, so after checking my emails, thought I would drop you a little line!

Arrived here last Saturday, Gavin followed me down to help put up the annex, shade & tent for Lisa & children.

Lisa decided to come down Saturday too arriving at about 9pm, the caravan park owner none too happy at being rung for an access code so she could get her car into the park!!! Oh well!

We have been going down to the beach every afternoon, once the bite from the sun is a bit less, with Sebastian the super caravan puppy dog!! Yesterday afternoon he even stood in the water without running away up to the dry sand!

Sunday morning we rode into Victor to the market (with Sebastian in my bike basket!) & bought yummy fresh local fruit & the most scrumptious popcorn I have ever tasted! After the children had about 4 tasting cups each, Lisa bought a huge $10 bag! I kept getting stopped with the cute puppy being asked if he was the one in the bike basket!

Daniel needed bread & biscuits, so in 30+ degree heat, I had to bake in the caravan - thank goodness I have airconditioning in here! Didn't matter - he was happy with his bread, blondies & carob biscuits. He will stop nagging me now for the rest of the holiday.

The caravan park has installed a jumping pillow - can we keep the children off...no way! Will have to venture up there soon and get some shots of them jumping around all over the place!

Going to the Whale Centre & over to Granite Island today & of course, back to the beach for a refreshing dip.

While I am here relaxing with the children, the floors are getting sanded & polished at home and in the rumpus room - or should I say -the new scrap room! Yeah!!
See you all soon, thank goodness the children go back to school next week - I will need that time to set up the new scrap room!!

Forever Always Recipe Scrap 7 January 2009

Had a lovely time on Wednesday night on Forever Always doing a recipe scrap with Sonia. Here's the layout I did - another for my Bali album. Have to get them finished before I go to Vietnam!!

The new scrap room is nearly finished! Gavin has just got to pull up the carpet and do the floor, then I can move in!!!!!!

See you all soon, hope you are starting to get back into the swing of things after Christmas & New Year. Keep sane during the school holidays & I will see you back at classes which start on the 29th January.
Ciao for now, Mandy
