Next Week ... 3 October 2010

Well, School Holidays start in under an hour!!

I am busy cooking for tomorrow and for Daniel, plus putting the last minute bits into the kits for tomorrows workshop.  I have also been busy sewing and finally finished my chenille bag...

ONE SPOT STILL AVAILABLE!!!!  For tomorrow's Make Your Own Flowers Workshop.  $45, includes full kit to make heaps of flowers and a layout!!  10am - 4pm

Remember there's no workshops next week.

Just arrived in the shop -  Butcher's Twine!
We've all been looking at the butcher's twine on all the layouts and cards in the latest magazines....well I have managed to get some 100m spools - Yay!!!  Available in Black/White, Mocha/White, Pine/White, Red/White, Lavender/White and Pink/White, all at 50c p/mtr.  I am hoping to find a few more colours, so keep your eyes peeled on the ribbon wall for more.

Now for something to make you laugh...My gorgeous Sebastian went outside, but wouldn't come back in.  He is scared of the screen doors, which were open!  I had to lay out a trail of liver treats with a bonus dentastix at the end... after much coaxing on my part, he finally followed the trail, got the treat and relaxed on the couch!!!
What a sooky baby!!!! But still cute!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Flower Making Workshop this Saturday...

Hi everyone!

Just a quick post to let you know that the Make Your Own Flowers Workshop is on this Saturday, 1st October.
All the kits are cut and made up - it's going to be fun day!  I have reposted  info down below.  Remember to bring some lunch to share (don't go overboard!!) and I will provide the drinks and morning/afternoon tea.
There have been two cancellations.....so there are two spots up for grabs!!!!  The kits are made, so it's a shame for them to go to waste...

These are just a few of the flowers you will be making on during the all day workshop on the 1st October!  It is going to be a fun day, learning lots of new techniques and you will also put some of the flowers you make onto a layout.  Now that I have finally finished the flowers, got step-by-step instructions for you and all the materials needed, I can let you know the cost for the day.  It will be $45, this includes all your materials (including needle, thread and candle) to make 30 flowers and a 12x12 layout - but you will have to bring your own 4x6" portrait photo! The title, printed onto transparency, will read simply be 'beautiful', to get you thinking about an appropriate photo and the colours you see above are what you'll be using.  A few tools I found extremely helpful were - a hot glue gun, a quilling stick or tweezers, sharp scissors, scoreboard for the pleating on the layout and my glasses!!!

There has been some interest to run the workshop again, so don't despair if you have missed out this time :-)  It will be a different layout, same flowers but different colourway, as I have not got enough materials left to run another workshop exactly the same. I am taking names now and the workshop will be scheduled for November.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 26 September 2011

PAIN...thank goodness for panadine forte!!!!  Have twisted by back and can hardly move!  Daniel begrudgingly put my socks on my feet this morning!  The hot spa and more tiger balm are calling me!

Jennifer had the time of her life singing in the Festival of Voices this week!  It was just fantastic and from the audience we could tell that all the children were having a ball!  Managed to sneak a couple of photos...

...doesn't that smile just say it all??!!

Next Weeks Workshop is ...
Attack Your Stash   $10
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am
I had so much fun with this page!  I started with two page maps and combined them to create a really cute page.  Firstly the photos - you will need 11 photos!  3@4x6” landscape; 3@3x3”square; 3@2x1½” landscape; 1@3¼x5¼” portrait and 1 @ 3½x2½” portrait, phew!!!  Next you will need, background - 2x 12x12”cardstock, contrast 1 - 1x 12x12” double sided patterned paper, contrast 2 - 1x 12x12” patterned paper, contrast 3 - 1x 12x12” cardstock.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, 1”, ¾” and ¼” circle punches, circle cutting system (if you have one) to cut circle approximately 6” and a title (I used stickers).

Have had a cancellation for the flower making workshop on the 1st October, so if you are interested - there is one spot available!

Short and sweet this week, can't sit for too long or I can't get up!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 19th September 2011

Time again for your weekly update.  This time I'm sitting at the Red Cross blood bank in the Port giving plasma :-)  Typing one handed, slowly - the nurse is quite impressed!

How about this lovely weather we've had this week - glorious!!  Jennifer has already been in the pool and I would say that there will be more this weekend...into the pool with the great weather that is! Meg, in true cat style, has taken advantage of the poor man's cafe blinds (installed for Daniel's birthday BBQ) with the sun and used them to their full sunbathing capacity!!...

If you're wondering what to do this Sunday - Fort Glanville is having it's open day (doesn't happen too often) and my band is playing there!  Come along from 1pm and learn a bit about SA's history and list to the band from 2pm!  I am even playing a solo - Harlem Nocturne.

Tomorrow night is Scrap'n'Roast night from 4pm.  There are spots available if you're quick!

Next Week's Workshop is ...
Dots and Spots  $19
Monday 7-9pm, Wednesday 12:30-2:30pm and Thursday 10:30am-12:30pm
**Please note Thursday's workshop is starting at 10:30, just for this one time as Jennifer has her ballet exam early on this morning.
You’ll be going dotty after this workshop, but in a good way!!  You will be amazed at how easy it is to transform plain cardstock into “patterned paper” using this simple technique.  You will need 4 photos, 3@5x5” square, 1@5x7” landscape and 1@1½x4” portrait.  You will also need your basic tool kit, foam mounting squares or tape, inks, title (I used stickers), either a white gel pen or journal pen (depending on the colour of your background, I used white as my background was brown) and a border punch.
To see the full layout head on over to the gallery :-)

Some gorgeous Martha Stewart All Around the Page Punch sets have arrived, along with some the Monarch Butterfly Punch (for those of you who have been waiting), Pink Paislee Mistables tags (can't wait to try these!), Cuttlebug Clockworks Embossing folder, Graphic 45 Metal Flowers and most of the new Basic Grey Indie Bloom range!!! Arriving next week are Fiskars trimmer blades (at last!!!), more embossing folders and some KandCo Watercolor Tag Pads.  Keep an eye out.  Remember if there's something in particular you would like, let me know and I will order it in for you.

Enjoy this lovely weather,
Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ... 12 September 2011

Good afternoon everyone :-) Isn't technology just wonderful - here I am sitting in the school carpark waiting for the children to come out and I can start my blog while I'm waiting! Just got to love that! The wind is a bit on the wild side today and the car is getting shaken (not stirred!), enough to rock me to sleep!!

AA...AA...AAA......CHOOOOOOO!!!!  It is that time of the year again where all the hay fever sufferers walk around in a daze with permanent red eyes, running nose and continual sneezing! Unfortunately, I am one of those sufferers, so can I please, please ask you all to refrain from wearing perfumes to workshops. I suffer terribly from an allergy to perfumes all year, but during the Spring season, it is even worse (I guess with all the pollens around just doesn't help!). I would really appreciate it - and so will my head, eyes, nose, throat and chest :-)

I made a gorgeous skirt for Jennifer last night - one of those tiered gathered types from a selection of material given to me recently - she loves it! You wouldn't believe it, I was shopping at Target and found a cute two layered t-shirt with a crocheted overlay in the same colour ways!! She thinks it is just great and wanted to wear it tonight for Daniels birthday dinner, but I think it will be a little too cold!

Finally have my new bed all put together!  Only been sitting on the deck all week, but got up this morning and ripped open the boxes!  Looks very cute...can't wait to save up enough to do the rest of the room - especially replacing the wardrobe.
Have had a great response to the Make Your Flowers Workshop and looks like I will be adding it to the next calendar for those of you who are missing out this time. Unsure whether it will be the exact same page - that will depend on whether I can get more of the papers or not. But don't despair - if I have to do another page it will be equally as stunning, you can count on that!!! Keep you eyes sharp for the date in the next newsletter.

Next Weeks Workshop is ...
Page Maps September  $18
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12:30-2:30pm and Thursday 9:30-11:30 am

This simple page map becomes extraordinary with the addition of borders in different shapes and sizes!  Now I have some lovely loopy loops across the bottom of my page, which I handcut and took me forever...so I am recommending that you don’t do the loops and just use border punch strips or handcut using the ruler shapes.  If you would like to do the loops at home, let me know so I can print it out for you! You will need 9 photos, 4@5x3½” landscape, 3@4x3½” landscape, 1@3x3½” landscape and 1@4½x3½” landscape.  You will also need your basic tool kit, inks, edge distressor, brush markers (if you have them), border punch - two different ones.

On the 17th is the next Scrap'n'Roast. There are 3 spots left if you would like to come along and join in the fun of the evening. $16 for 8 hours of scrapping heaven plus a roast dinner, drinks and nibbles - bargain! Contact me know before it's too late.

Happy scrapping, Mandy :-)

Make Your Own Flowers Workshop ... Sneak Peek

A little sneak peek of the flowers for the Make Your Own Flowers Workshop .... I am really please with how they have all turned out, and I know you are going to love them all too!  I keep looking at the layout and saying, oh my goodness - I made all of those and they are sooooo cute!

This workshop is booked out already, but if you would like to go on the waiting list, please let me know.  If I have enough interest, I will run it again, so don't despair if you have missed out this time :-)  Let me know and I will schedule it into the next newsletter, let me know you day preference too, Saturday or Sunday.

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)

Next Week ,,, 5th September 2011

What a beautiful start to Spring!!!  Does almost make me motivated to clean the house....almost!  What I am really thinking is - thank goodness...the weekend has arrived!  (Kids both have school closure day today, so a three day weekend here.)  Have nothing planned this weekend except relaxing and light odd jobs - this and last week have been so hectic getting everything ready for our new tenants.  They arrived Wednesday morning after 30 hours of travelling from Ireland, through London and Singapore and where very pleased with the house and told us we were 'grand' for setting everything up!

Once I've had my relax this weekend, it's on again!!  Daniel turns 16 the following weekend and wants BBQ on the Saturday and Paintball session on the Sunday!  At least I am not expected to go paintballing!!!! Can you imagine it, lol!!!

Coredinations cardstock arrived, so most of the holes are filled in the cardstock racks - yeah!!  Makes for much easier colour selection when all the colours are there. doesn't it?

Next Weeks Workshop is....
Plethora of Pleats
Monday 7-9pm; Wednesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30-11.30am
Have you noticed the spring fashion hitting the shops -  all feminine with lace and pleating on the blouses???  Well I have added so many pleats to this layout it is not just a few but a plethora!!!  You will need 4 photos, 1 of which needs to be printed twice to make a total of 5 photos.  2@4x6”landscape, 1@4x6”portrait and 1@3½x3”landscape.  You will also need your basic tool kit, scoreboard or stylus, border punch, a title and any other embellishments.  Remember to get one photo printed twice (mine was one of the 4x6” landscape ones).

The next Scrap'n'Roast is on the 17th September and there are 4 spots available for the evening.  Starting at 4pm through to midnight, just think of the scrapping fun you could have!  Book Now!

Plans are in the pipeline for a Scrapping Weekend Away!!  If you have any suggestions or requests, have a chat to me.  Very early stages at the moment, haven't even decided where we will go - but was thinking not to far from Adelaide...less travel...more scrapping!  It will be somewhere catered so we don't have to worry about food - except for the eating and will begin with a workshop on the Friday night to get everyone started.  Will keep you posted on details as I get more organised :-)

Enjoy this gorgeous spring day.  I'm off to make hedgehogs with Jennifer and then some more washing!

Happy Scrapping,
Mandy :-)
